On Tuesday 18th March Class 6 left to go to Charterhouse Centre. After a journey of an hour and half we finally got there. On the way, we were doing all sorts; laughing, singing and even a bit of sleeping for some people! When we got there we met Lawrence and Mark who were going to be our instructors for the week. And put our bags in our dorms…
On the first afternoon, Monday 7th to Monday 21st April. Art Exhibition after school Thursday 24th April Year 5 Residential to Kilve Court Monday 28th to Wednesday 30th April May Bank Holiday Monday 5th May we took part in a lot of different team building activities including the funniest contact sport in the world –grab ball! That evening we had dinner (honestly, the best food I have ever had) and after getting changed in to our night walking clothes, we hiked to the highest point on the Mendips. It stands at a whopping 1066ft and we were freezing on the way down and very, very tired! It was about a 2.5 hour walk so we fell asleep very quickly.
The next day, my group did caving at Goatchurch Cavern, which was very exciting, dark and old. We saw a very, very rare bat - allegedly called Eric… We spent some time learning about the cave; the junction and chamber names which went 130 metres down inside the hill. After that, we moved on to climbing with Mark. It was great fun. At first we were bouldering across an 8ft wall, we walked 4 big rock faces all joined together and all about 6 metres tall. After walking back to camp we ate dinner and had a quiz which ended in the funniest paper aeroplane championships ever! Then we read Alex Rider Stormbreaker and went to bed. Following the best night sleep ever had, my dorm woke up and we talked in bed for a bit. Our first activity was gorge walking with Josh who was a great instructor. We climbed up a very big waterfall and did a sort of ditch limbo the (bar was very low). After lunch, we went on to archery. The targets were pretty big and my aim was not that great, but I still got some nice high scores. The day had been long but it wasn't over as we held the campfire dorm show. It was so funny because everyone made a play, song or performance in their dormitories. The final day was epic. We did orienteering over a whole valley! It was about midday when we finished and I was tired! The food was very nice for lunch. It was fish fingers and chips. It was so tasty. Then we grabbed our already packed bags and said goodbye and thank you to our instructors. Thank you to Mr Coupe, Mrs Brierley and Mr Lee for taking us on this trip.
