WELCOME TO MILVERTON COMMUNITY
PRIMARY SCHOOL
Set
in extensive grounds on the edge of the attractive village of
Milverton, ours is a school with many features of which we are
proud.
We have a record of continuing
high academic achievement by our pupils. The school received
the Government's School Achievement Award in 200/1, which recognised
that the results of our Year 6 pupils in the National Curriculum
Assessment tests put us in the top 20% of primary schools in
the UK. Our expectations of our pupils are high and we encourage
every child to recognise their potential and develop their individual
talents.
Our
facilities are outstanding. When the school was built in 1993
it gained a design award. It has been enhanced since then by
additional facilities, many provided through the fund raising
efforts of our parents and governors. Recent additions have
included a computer suite, separate teaching rooms and playground
area for the Early Years classes, an area for our Special Needs
team and the very popular Adventure Playground. We are fortunate
to have extensive school grounds with a variety of natural habitats,
which encourages an environmental awareness in our pupils. We
hope to achieve "Eco School" status in the near future.
The curriculum continues
to expand. We retain our commitment to 'hands-on' learning and
the importance of the creative subjects and thinking skills
despite the pressure of the statutory curriculum. We regard
'out of hours learning' as part of our services to our children
and families. We run the Milverton School Sports Association
four nights a week after school, alongside our St Michael's
After School Club, which includes creative as well as leisure
activities.
Education
should be fun. Children, like the rest us, learn so much better
when they are enjoying what they are doing. Your child will
benefit enormously from the interest you take in his/her progress
at school. Staff are always willing to help and listen and I
can always be contacted at school. Here at Milverton School
we aim to co-operate and work together, staff, governors, parents
and children, to do the very best we can for everyone involved.
If you would like a tour
of the school please contact the school office on 01823 400439.
